Back on Track!!

I am doing really well (I think)!  I am finding a way to balance healthy eating and exercise with enjoying life!  When I am at home or work and have total control over my meals, I count calories and exercise 5-6 times a week.  If we have plans to eat out or go over to friends, I try to stay away from the mentality of "punishing" myself.  I don't go hog wild, I just make smarter choices but don't obsess about the calories.  This will obviously slow my progress slightly, but I firmly believe that overall I will be able to stay on track and not give up because I have made life miserable.  I really think that this time I am going to do it and maintain it!  I feel great!

I am also trying Herbalife that my sister has started selling.  Can't hurt!  -Will

We're Slipping!!

Christopher and I are slipping a little bit, but hopefully we are going to get back on track.  We did not work out on Sunday or yesterday.  After watching The Biggest Loser last night, however, we managed to get up early and do a workout before work.  That made us feel really good and should get us back in the groove.

A Little Disappointing, But Not Overly Discouraging

We weighed in today.  I lost 3 lbs and Christopher lost 1 lb.  We were both hoping for more, so this disappointed us a little, but given the results of the last The Biggest Loser episode, we can't feel too bad.  I exercised 5 out of 7 days last week, Christopher did a little better (6 out of 7?).  I was very good at sticking within my allotted calories (I think), but we did go out to dinner twice and I had movie theater popcorn twice.  We were very careful to monitor our progress, but still it is hard to know exactly the amount of calories in restaurant food (unless you go to Applebees and order from their Weight Wachers menu - and even then, who knows?).  Anyway, we are still on track and committed to make 2008 the year we get to our goal weights!

Biggest Loser has an impact!!

Wow!  I'm amazed about how that show has an impact on me!  All those low, low weight losses last night really had an effect on me.  All I kept thinking was, "Man, if they are working out all day and can only lose 1 or 2 pounds, what hope do I have.  I actually slept through my workout time this morning.  Made me feel badly, so I will hopefully go home get some exercise.  So far I have not broken my record of exercising every day in 2008.  I can't fall off the wagon yet!! Eating within my calories has not been a problem.  When you are watching calories, it's incredible how much food you can actually eat. Biggest Loser Show is My AA Meeting!

We are still going strong!  I didn't want to get up this morning to work out, but believe it or not Christopher was the one who got my butt out of bed.  We went down and did a Jillian Michaels workout.  I am so proud of him for doing that.  We weighed in yesterday (see our graph).  We lost about 5 lbs each.  Not too bad although I was hoping for more.

I am so glad that The Biggest Loser is on tonight!  That show is like an AA meeting for fat people.  It is so inspirational and keeps me motivated!

Will excersizing only at home work?

Will and I will be completing our first week of eating right and working out by tommorow.  It will be interesting tommorow when we weigh in to see how much, if any weight we've lost in the first week.  It  will tell us if what we are doing is enough.
We have been following the eating guide from the Biggest Looser book.  Will can have 1925 calories a day and I get 1200 calories a day.  We have been doing really well with that part of it, but the working out part of it makes me nervous.  We cannot afford a gym membership right now, so the only working out we have been doing has been working out to work out DVD's and running.  Hopefully this will be enough to lose weight.  The only thing that makes us nervous is that we both still feel fat and bloated.  I just pray the what we are doing will make a difference.
One hard thing ( for me anyway) is that people tell me that I don't look overweight, but when I look at my self in the mirror I feel so dissapointed with myself.  In the last seven years my waist size has gone up five sizes and that makes me so sad.  Another hard thing is that I don't have great will power to not eat cookies ( my weakness) and I don't know why, but it's hard for me to stay disciplined.  I don't know why I have to will power.  It is so hard to stay on track and not give in.  So, I hope that what we are doing in enough, tommorow will tell us a lot.
Until then~

Our First Entry

This is our first entry in our Blog - our essay on why we are doing The Biggest Loser Million Pound Match Up and why we should win.  Christopher and I have been together for seven years, and have unfortunately gotten increasingly unhealthier as the years have gone on.  It is time for us to get back on track.  We have twin four year old girls who need to have modeld for them the right behavior when it comes to diet and exercise.  We do this for them.  Christopher and I have committed to each other that we will support each other in any way to make this work for us.  We are exercising together and helping each other keep track of calories.  We should win this competition because of our commitment to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle for ourselves and for our children, and our dedication to each other to make this successful.  We are also staunch addicts of The Biggest Loser show.  It is the most motivational show on TV!
